Tradition Enquiry for Theological Studies, Part Five: Journals Catering toward Evangelical Scholarship
Introduction Tradition Enquiry for Evangelicals will involve engaging with past and present scholarship within the broad tent of 'Evangelicalism'. As Evangelical is a movement more than a theological tradition itself, albeit a Protestant and theologically orthodox movement, it involves several streams of tradition--especially the Reformed, Wesleyan, Baptistic, and Pentecostal. Within Evangelicalism are then some narrower emphases that are less cooperative with the broader tent and more focussed on a narrower corner of Evangelicalism. In my understanding of what should constitute 'Evangelicalism', I would say that one hoping to research within the movement that makes up Evangelicalism needs to do so by: 1. intentionally reading material and engaging with scholars and ministries that are Evangelical; 2. intentionally reading material and engaging with scholars and ministries that remain faithful to the Reformation's emphases; 3. intentionally reading material and ...
